Rocking Horse is designed by Fritz Hansen and engineered by Mads-Ulrik Husum. Made entirely of ash wood, it is available in a natural or black stained finish. The ears are made of leather, while the tail is made of halyard. This decorative piece, born from a 1946 prototype and recreated in almost three years of work, celebrates 151 years of Fritz Hansen production. Rocking Horse embodies the company’s visionary craft ambitions, paying homage to pioneering craftsmen and their audacity to dream big.From the discovery of a forgotten photograph, in 2023 the Rocking Horse was reborn as a symbol of heritage, innovation and craftsmanship. Inspired by just two archive images, Fritz Hansen’s design and development team embarked on a long and meticulous journey, using industrial lamination techniques and drawing inspiration from the ancient arts of musical instrument making. The result is an abstract form maintaining the essence of a horse, with molded veneer, halyard tail and ears made from leather scraps. The rocking horse thus embodies Fritz Hansen’s rich manufacturing history, conveying a wonderful sculptural expression that lends itself to characterizing the living room or adding a playful touch to the children’s room.
