Ripple is a collection of lamps designed by BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group and produced by the famous Italian brand Artemide. Lamps made of thermally conductive molded plastic. Available in different models. Ripple is a suspension system that models the qualities of space according to molecular growth by combining light and sound absorption. Made up of circular structures of three different diameters, it works on performance layers that can be modulated as needed. The structures can be animated with “pure” light or enriched by a diffuser which, in addition to interacting with the light, has acoustic absorption properties. The basic element of the product is the circular ring whose profile is a synthesis of optics and mechanics. The Ripple elements can then be combined in custom of increasing complexity: simple lines or geometries of elements of constant diameter, compositions that combine different diameters in a more organic and free growth up to solutions with a scenographic effect. Once again, Artemide’s project with BIG is guided by a strong idea of ​​interaction with spaces, an open, modular and scalable solution that combines technological innovation and compositional intelligence, translating them into an apparently elementary but scenographic result full of potential.
